i hate this state sometimes. youd figger that as much snow as they get here, they have some clue how to drive in it. or that they would actually plow roads in a somewhat timely manner. but alas, Virginia handled snow a helluva lot better. And considering the amount of snow we get, thats fucking sad.
Harrumph.

Dec. 6th, 2005 @ 09:37 am most pissed ive been in a while
so there i was in verizon, so i asked if i could get a new phone, like if i was eligible for an upgrade or whatver. she said yeah and you can get this phone for free, (its a rockin phone) so like a cashew i said "lets do this!"
so i get everything set up and beren was with me i took a pic of him and set it to the ID and was like call me so i can see it come up! and he does and nothing happens. im like weird. so i get a hunch and im like call this number. i gave him Jamies cell #. (my ex wife) so despite the fact that our accounts are now billed separately, i still have my name attatched to that account. and that was the one eligible for an upgrade. so theyre going through all this shit to try to switch back to her old phone but they cant do it and meanwhile theyre giving me a new phone.
so here i am with two phones, one for Jamie, and now i have to find a way to contact her and give her the phone. and i have my own new phone. which i wasnt even supposed to be able to get but still got for free because theyre the ones who messed it up. fuckers.
the worst part being i was in there for a fcking hour, and missed jens lunch break. :(
btw my new phone rocks. you can still call me at 860 917 3339 and i get to hear my obnoxious darkness ringtone and talk to you on my new blue tooth wireless headset. hehe i heart gadgets.
also does anyone else love the new darkness cd, i think imlike the only one. poo

Jun. 18th, 2005 @ 10:29 pm italy!
so here i am in La Maddalena italy. its an island of the coast of sardinia. ive been here many time before so its sort of boring, but at least its a break from the horror that is the boat. plus its only for a few days.
we also pulled into sicily for a couple days, but because of standing duty and all, i barely got off the boat for even a few hours. i did get to see star wars 3 though. so that was cool.
last night was pretty funny i guess. beren and i got a hotel room so we wouldnt have to back to the boat, and later on my other friends jared and matt ended up crashing there. well almost. see, they got ridicolously blackout drunk and i ended up babysitting them, but jared waited till we fell asleep and left. we couldnt find him but i guess he got into trouble for passing out in some public place. the other funny thing, my friend matt was so trashed, i was awakend in the morning by a water dripping sound. i looked up and he was sitting in a chair, pants around his ankles pissing on the floor! i was so pissed! but he had to clean it up and everything ended up all right.
in other news, i still havent managed to get a hold of jen on the phone, which sucks terribly. i called her around 1020pm here, which is like 430pm there. i tried to check her myspace but the crappy computer here have myspce blocked.
i really want to hear the sound of her voice. its been a looong time since ive talked to her. i miss her soo much. i got really nervous right before i talked to her too. i dunno why, i gues since its been so long.
oh well, she knows how madly i love her and ill have to find a better time or day to call i suppose.

so ill try to udate next time i pull in somehwere, or maybe again from italy, who knows?
my email on the boat is still murphybm@san-juan.navy.mil and i appreciate the stuff you guys have sent me so far, i have had one or two from people besides jen.
and in a new development, heres my snail mail adress on the boat in case anyone wants to send me anything. i promise ill sent at least a cool postcard or something back!

Braggart

You are 57% Rational, 100% Extroverted, 28% Brutal, and 71% Arrogant.

You are the Braggart! Like Muhammad Ali, you would surely tell everyone
that you are "The Greatest" whilst bragging incessantly about your
intelligence, your skills, and your abilities. You tend to be a thinker
rather than a feeler, and combined with your extroversion and
arrogance, this makes you someone who probably just LOVES to brag about
his accomplishments. Despite this, however, you are a very gentle,
tender person and truly care about others' feelings. You just happen to
care more about yourself. Unlike Ali, of course, you are rather
rational as opposed to emotional, and you are also much more gentle.
But his arrogance and extroversion best reflect the most visible
aspects of your personality. Your personality defect is the fact that
you are extremely overconfident, extroverted, and perhaps rather
lacking in emotions. YOU ARE THE GREATEST! Or so you keep telling
yourself every night, in hopes that eventually everyone else on the
planet will agree. Well, sorry, we probably won't.

To put it less negatively:

1. You are more RATIONAL than intuitive.

2. You are more EXTROVERTED than introverted.

3. You are more GENTLE than brutal.

4. You are more ARROGANT than humble.

Compatibility:

Your exact opposite is the Bitch-Slap.

Other personalities you would probably get along with are the Hand-Raiser, the Haughty Intellectual, and the Capitalist Pig.

If you scored near fifty percent for a certain trait (42%-58%), you
could very well go either way. For example, someone with 42%
Extroversion is slightly leaning towards being an introvert, but is
close enough to being an extrovert to be classified that way as well.
Below is a list of the other personality types so that you can
determine which other possible categories you may fill if you scored
near fifty percent for certain traits.

The other personality types:

The Emo Kid: Intuitive, Introverted, Gentle, Humble.

The Starving Artist: Intuitive, Introverted, Gentle, Arrogant.

The Bitch-Slap: Intuitive, Introverted, Brutal, Humble.

The Brute: Intuitive, Introverted, Brutal, Arrogant.

The Hippie: Intuitive, Extroverted, Gentle, Humble.

The Televangelist: Intuitive, Extroverted, Gentle, Arrogant.

The Schoolyard Bully: Intuitive, Extroverted, Brutal, Humble.

The Class Clown: Intuitive, Extroverted, Brutal, Arrogant.

The Robot: Rational, Introverted, Gentle, Humble.

The Haughty Intellectual: Rational, Introverted, Gentle, Arrogant.

The Spiteful Loner: Rational, Introverted, Brutal, Humble.

The Sociopath: Rational, Introverted, Brutal, Arrogant.

The Hand-Raiser: Rational, Extroverted, Gentle, Humble.

The Braggart: Rational, Extroverted, Gentle, Arrogant.

The Capitalist Pig: Rational, Extroverted, Brutal, Humble.

The Smartass: Rational, Extroverted, Brutal, Arrogant.

Apr. 10th, 2005 @ 11:10 am music thingy for jeremy
Current Mood: nostalgicnostalgic
well heres my synopsis of bands i was in. jeremy even missed one we were both in. but i forgive him. :P

Green Eggs and Spam - as he said this was our first band that wasnt even really a band. all we did was design t shirts and albumn cover art and write song lyrics about gorrillas that sakateboard and things of the sort. we never actually bothered to get instruments or learn how to play.

Radiohalo- this was the epic band. or should i say is, cuz i guess whenever me and jer start a band we pretty much call it radiohalo. except for that one time we were going to start a ska band called drunk uncle danny. it started with very humble begiinings practising at jesse conways house with the worst equipment ever. we had like ten tiny guitar practice amps all wired together, and jon had 3/4 of a cymbal. we practiced constantly, and played just about every mid/early nineties rock song you can think of. plus our own tunes, like blindsided (premiered at the sherando gong show), and the ballad, and canadian nazi showtunes (which i sang btw). then we would go talk smack to people about our rockin band on mIRC and our BBS cowland. thats right, internet nerds before the internet baby

when radiohalo reformed the second full time (it was always getiing a few people in it like shane soule or someone else that would play for a while but never play a show) it was with matt "14 land" humphrey. this was by far the most radiohalo ever rocked. this was like when bands get famous and start getting weird for uss, with our awesome long instrumental seal clubbing in E minor, and songs where jer played the organ and stuff. we had all learned how to play much better than before, and this verison of us rocked. this time when we played the gong show i think everone was actually impressed. even though noone could hear my bass solo, apparently it looked like it was difficult to play.

starmarie - this was a jam band i was in with steve snider, and a bunch of other people a few years older than me that i dont remember. i wasnt very god yet, but they seemed to "like my style" as steve put it. this included one of radiohalos interim drummers whos name i cant remember. but in this band he played keyboards. eventually i was kicked out of this band by steve bc i "didnt make the band a priority", which means i wouldnt cut school to practice in the mornings. silly me and my messed up priorities.

one night stand- we pretty much played sober by tool. over and over and over. mostly because we had ryan rollins there and travis was such an amazing drummer that we pulled it off so well. we also did write one other song, which eveentuallty i stole part of to become a shifter song. see below. this was also the band where we (i still feel guilty for this) gave jerry a mic that didnt work and told him we could hear him fine. he started the band so we couldnt kick him out, but he was that bad. seriously.

the rob rudd experience - this was the one that jer forgot. he played rythm guitar/organ. we mostly played a hodgepodge of classic rock cover tunes, along with a few hippie style originals.
didnt last too long. also had ryan rollins on percussion. robb rudd still has my envelope filter. jerk.

silent truth- this was a rocking metal band i was in with jeremy coulson. we made on tape which i dont have, so if anyone does i would love to hear it. i dont remember who played drums, but i know it was j-sin at least once. i think it might have been travis again. this is where i learned i have the innate abality to instantly improvise a bassline that sounds like tool.

the gastlicrumb tinies - this was a band that played one show. it was ritchie ritter on the drums, my brother danerific on vocals, and me on distorted bass. we were a horrible punk band that plyed only misfits covers with a few exceptions. which inclded our song verison of the gastlicrumb tinies by edward gorey. we also would randomly make up songs about whatver was going on at ritchies house. like "2:37" (what time it was when we wrote the song) and the song about the wasp in his room "he's humpin the rock"

shifter - this was my longest lasting band. this one had me on bass, ryan rollins on guitar/vocals, and the excellent james dearstyne on drums. the band this one got compared to was fugazi, which i kind of see, but we were a bit heavier than fugazi. ryan sang, and as usual sounded pretty maynardish. his guitar playing was remiscient of tom morello more han anything else, he mainly just coaxed bizzare noises out of the thing. i wrote all the songs, while ryan would arrange them and add his lyrics. which according to him didnt actually mean anything but sounded deep. which they did. people used to tell us that they really felt that song, and related to the lyrics that ryan pulled out of his ass to make a ryhme. we played a bunch of shows. including an excellent show at the YDC with open mic night and the amazing crotch rockets. jer joined the band for this one show. ila wagner was also breifly in the band. mainly bc she was hot and her dad was a DJ. the band was together for about 2 years, but then it broke up when ryan left for college.

open mic night - ah college. which brings me to this band. i went to school with a drummer named caleb keiter. i had seen his band several time before and we were freinds. knowing i was also of the christian persuasion ( ill always love those jam seesions in church with my dad jer) he asked me to be the second guitar player in his band. i had no band, but i also didnt really know how to play guitar. i knew how to play power chords and that was it. which worked out well, because this was christian punk band, and iall i had to do was strum power chords and jump around with a punk rock facial expression. this band was FUN. we played shows like every weekend, we traveled all around, to PA, maryland, west VA, all over VA. we got to open for and hang out with bands ive loved for a while, like ghoti hook, dogwood, the undecided, one-21, stavesacre, zao, and more. i became really good friends with josh ashton, and okay freinds with mike. the four of us just hung out constanly playing vdieo games (esp tony awk) and playing samurai swords like 3 in the mornining. they evetually brought in my replacent. after recording a CD with them (which BTW they only put me as guest guitarist, despite that i had been in the band for like 4 moths... thanks mike) i was replaced by another josh, an asian one. who was ten times beter than me at guitar. eventually josh quit too. and i left to join the navy.

which brings me to this last band.

are nine- this was the band i was in for a while with a few of my freinds on th boat. we never actually played a show. we only recorded one MP3 which i dont even have anymore. this was pretty much an emo/screamo band. glen, the drummer /guitarist was amazingly good at everything musical. then he ran off with my friend marshalls wife and i never saw him again. weird huh.

if you read all of this you deserve a medal. or at least a cookie. but i have neither of these to give . sorry.
ima go snuggle up next to je. cuz i she is great.
